SVCU's 2023 AGM Results
This year's annual general meeting brought over 130 community members together to celebrate SVCU's successes. Opening the doors at 5:30pm members and guests started their evening off with a wine and cheese, taking full advantage of the opportunity to visit and mingle. Keeping our audience entertained was the talents of the Benito School Band. This was followed by a delicious catered meal by Verneece Eggie, with the meeting portion of our evening kicking off at 7pm. SVCU Board President, Ken Treasure welcomed members, staff and honoured guests and paid tribute to retiring Director Rosann Wowchuk and those Directors being recognized for their years of service; Ferlin Abrahamson (12 years), Rosann Wowchuk (4+ years) and Cam Mateika (3 years). Craig Zamzow, CEO then took the membership through SVCU's financials, highlighting our financial success and announcing $500,000 in patronage that will be paid to members by June of this year. Craig also took a moment to recognize 2 very special SVCU employees. Yvonne Brelinksi and Gayle Branconnier celebrating incredible milestones with 50 and 40 years, respectively of service to our members. Director Jaymie Klekta, acting as Returning officer, announced the results of our Board of Directors nominations. Elected by acclamation to the board; Returning board members Ferlin Abrahamson and Cam Mateika and new to our board Cynthia Miles. Our evening came to a close as we awarded $20,000 in grants to our "My Community Matters" recipients, each receiving $5,000 for their project. Congratulations to Benito & District Recreation Centre, North Mountain Riders, RM of Mountain(Birch River Pool) and Swan River Senior Citizens Centre.
